Croft’s Local Community Project Building Wooden Planters and Vegetable Boxes at Caldecott Primary School

In April this year, the Croft team undertook a local community project at Caldecott Primary School which involved constructing several new wooden planters and vegetable boxes for the pupils. Unwanted scaffold boards were upcycled to create the planters and boxes, providing the material with a new purpose as part of the waste hierarchy. The team worked efficiently to build, line, fill and plant the planters and boxes, completing this initial phase in one day!

More recently, Croft went back to Caldecott to complete the project by painting the wooden planters. The team were able to see how our efforts have helped to support the school’s gardening club who have successfully been able to grow lots of vegetables and sunflowers since our last visit in April.

Croft would like to say a huge thank you to Oxford Wood Recycling for helping to support this project by cutting and delivering the wooden scaffold boards for free!

The Croft Team enjoyed the opportunity to not only support their local community, but also put their engineering and project management skills to use in a new setting.
