Package Type

Designed as a reusable Type A Package to the IAEA SSR-6 2018 Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material.

Certification

Certified as a general purpose Type A Package for the carriage of specified radionuclides in solid or liquid form (including powders, liquids and sludges).

Other forms of radioactive material and/or primary packaging can be carried subject to safety review by Croft.

Description

The SAFPAK^® 2767T is a reusable packaging design manufactured from stainless steel and brass to give a long service life.   The SAFPAK^® 2767T consists of an Outer Container (Design No 2767) which carries a resealable Containment Vessel (CV), Design No 2952, within shock absorbing cork packing.

The SAFPAK^® 2767 Outer Container is a pressed stainless steel body and lid with a bayonet action closure. The 2952 CV is a resealable stainless steel containment vessel with a brass screw retaining ring closure and a single O-ring seal.  The radioactive contents are held within in primary containers within the cavity.

Containment / Shielding

The 2952 CV provides shielding (6 mm stainless steel thickness) and the containment system of the package.  In addition, lead pots and packing material can be carried within the 2952 CV to provide additional shielding.

Approved Contents

• Radioactive material in liquid or solid form with varying limits (up to Type A limits) for ; Ac-225, Ag-108m, Am-241, Ba-133, C-14, Ca-45, Cf-252, Cm-242, Cm-243, Cm-244, Co-57, Co-60, Cs-137, Cs-137, Eu-152, Eu-154, Eu-155, Fe-55, H-3, Ni-63, Pa-231, Pm-147, Po-210, Pu-238, Pu-239, Pu-240, Pu-241, Ra-226, Sc-46, Sm-151, Sr-90, U-234, U-235, U-236 and U-238.
• Solids are limited to 10 kg, this includes any associated shielding and packing material within the 2952 CV.
• A variety of sealed primary containers can be used with liquid contents (e.g. vials).  The liquid contents are limited to a maximum volume of 1000 cm³ (1 litre) when packed in sealed primary containers and 160cm³ when packed in non-sealed primary containers (when absorbent packaging is also required).
• Other radionuclides, up to Type A limits can be carried following review by Croft.
